Yeah his lag problem is kind of a moot point to the discussion though, since he's using GH3 on a Plasma where there will inherantly be some input lag.Īlso, the problem with some people calibrating visually, as he's doing it, is that most people "anticipate" the hit.

So has anyone else noticed this flaw in the PS3 versions of these games? Also, does anyone know what exactly is the cause? I'm hoping this is something that is fixable through firmware updates. Thankfully, this problem really doesn't affect drums, since precise visual cues are far less important, as all of the drumming is essentially on beat, and the sound synchronization is far more important.

They should make it work like the PC version, where default audio sync is 100ms, so you have plenty of breating room in either direction. It would work if you could set the audio to -30ms and the video to 0ms, but sadly, you cannot set the audio below 0ms. Sweeps and shreds are significantly more difficult on the PS3.Īlso, on GH3, you can't get the audio and video in sync.

This can make large HO/PO sections quite difficult as you often rely on the flaming effect to tell you where in the HO/PO string you're located. Even though you can strum to the beat now with it being fixed, you still only see the "fire" effect when you hit the note pop up about 20-30ms after you actually hit the note. Still though, the game's don't feel "quite right". GH3 - 30ms video calibration (no audio calibration) Settings I've found work pretty well for both games: You need somewhere in the vacinity of 20-35ms to correct this. I'm sure some people have noticed as well how drum fills are "delayed" on the PS3 version of the game.that's the lag I'm talking about. And yes, even on a CRT this lag is there.

Normally, the timing window should be centered around the note, meaing that you can hit the same length of time before the note than you can after the note. Also, I'm sure some Rock Band Drummers have noticed that you can only hit the drum "before" the note sounds. On Expert level play, I'm sure some of the GH vets here have noticed that the game just doesn't feel quite right on the PS3. I do believe the lag appears to be a video delay (though I suppose it could be input lag through the USB port). I realized a while ago that the PS3 version of both games has a fairly major flaw. Thought I'd finally bring this to people's attention, for the ones who don't know.
